So I found this pretty funny . . . not sure if ya'll will but I'll share just for fun.
Background info, Eric served his mission in Korea, where they eat dogs and he jokes pretty constantly about Cletus being a good source of food storage and just in general about eating Cletus. Mostly he does it cause it always gets a reaction out of me.
So, yesterday morning Eric was making his grandma's buttermilk pancakes for breakfast. And I guess when he was a kid his grandma would always make them in the shape of a cat. Well he made them all just normal round pancakes at first and then in the end he decided to make a Cletus pancake. He actually got the proportions and shape just right. It turned out pretty good. Anyway, I thought HE was going to eat the Cletus pancake cause he always jokes about eating Cletus, but then he goes and puts it on MY plate. So . . . I had Cletus for breakfast yesterday while the real Cletus watched trying to figure out what in the world was going on. He was pretty tasty. :)

Fireflies
I am not talented enough to take my own picture, but I really liked this image. Anyway . . . one of the things that I really love about summers in the midwest is . . . wait for it . . . THE HUMIDITY!! Ok, just kidding . . . what I really love are fireflies. And this year is even more fun because I have my own back yard where I can sit in a chair on the patio in the evening and just watch them . . . Cletus tries to chase them and catch them . . . he never does, but it doesn't stop him from trying. It is a very nice way to wind down at night and just relax. Love them!

You scared me!
Last night I got home from work late and Cletus was here waiting for me and dying to get outside so he could go to the bathroom. When he came inside he was dripping blood from there (sorry, I won't be graphic). It scared me, moments later it stopped, but I turned him on his back to see if I could figure out what was happening. It stopped, but I was still worried.
Then early this morning I woke up and let him out again and the same thing happened. This time I followed him around to see if it was in his pee or separate. (Once again, sorry a little gross). But, it wasn't. So now I am really confused, but I have to go to work . . . so I called the vet and set an appointment for this afternoon cause I was really scared. When blood comes out of somewhere that it isn't supposed to it is pretty scary.
So I took the little man to the vet this afternoon . . . which he didn't like a bit. Granted no one likes to be poked and prodded. But she determined that it was a simple prostate infection that would be cleared up with antibiotics. So $200 later we were on our way home. I felt relieved, but here is hoping that the antibiotics work and this is really all that it is.

Am I Just Pathetic For This???
I have only had Cletus for a little over three months and for the first time I am going to be away from him overnight this weekend. But it isn't just overnight, it is for five whole days! I found myself being such the paranoid mom . . . I was packing his things and I made sure that he had a variety of treats, his favorite blanket, his favorite toys, plenty of food, and anything that I could think of. I put together a big long note of his daily routine, what he likes, emergency phone numbers, etc. A friend that I work with is taking him while I am gone, but for some reason I am totally worried for both of them. He's a lot to handle so I am a little worried.
He just picked him up a few minutes ago and I am totally feeling a sense of separation anxiety. I keep telling myself that this is ridiculous, but I am sad that he isn't here. This could be a long weekend, it is just a good thing that I am not going to be at my house.

Proud Momma
Yesterday I was downtown for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade and the traditional dying of the Chicago River a nice bright green. While we were standing on the State Street bridge tying not to freeze and waiting for the river to turn my favorite shade of green we came upon a lady with her bulldog. And where my dog Cletus is a bulldog I always have to play with other people's bulldogs. This one was really old and I was talking to the owner about bulldogs for a while cause she is looking for a new one cause hers
doesn't have a lot of time left. But as we were discussing them, people kept coming up and petting her dog and telling her how cute she was and all that I could help thinking is that Cletus is so much cuter! Her bulldog actually had a few features that disqualify her from being registered in the breed. I actually showed her pictures on my phone of Cletus and she loved his color . . . really he is just a beautiful dog. Anyway, we walked away and I mentioned to my friend "Cletus is way cuter!" and of course she agreed. So I had this proud momma moment where I got to think "my baby is way cuter than your baby!"
